Hawley Elementary Students Get One Last Goodbye Before Summer

Hawley, MN -- The Hawley Elementary students and staff got one final opportunity to say goodbye for the summer during a reverse parade on Wednesday. For nearly two hours, hundreds of students and their families paraded through the parking lot waving and saying goodbye. Hawley Elementary Principal Chris Ellingson says they had a tremendous turnout that far exceeded their expectations.
Ellingson says for both the students and staff, it was really important for them to get to see each in person and not through a computer screen.
Principal Ellingson adds that he really feels for the kids, who missed out on a lot of the usual fun activities that they look forward to each year such as field trips and track and field day.
And the Hawley High School is inviting the public to show support for the seniors during a community parade for the class of 2020 this Saturday at 2pm. A parade map is available on the Hawley Nugget Facebook page.
