Ada City Council News & Notes from August 8th Meeting
By Mark Askelson (8/8/17)
Ada, MN -- An ordinance passed a few years ago regarding the parking of trailers in the street became a topic of debate at Tuesday night’s Ada City Council meeting. The discussion resurfaced after the City of Ada began to enforce the ordinance and was met with resistance and some strongly worded letters from citizens. Ada Mayor Todd Sawrey says they may have to revisit the ordinance and see if some compromise can be made.
The Ada City Council approved going forward with applying for a grant for a new street sweeper. Mayor Sawrey says a new street sweeper is a big investment and they will have a tough decision to make if the grant comes through.
Along with a street sweeper, Sawrey says the council will likely face some difficult choices at their upcoming budget meeting at the end of the month.
In other news from Tuesday night’s Ada City Council Meeting, the council approved moving the start time of council meetings to 5:30pm, recommended John Hintz and James Leiman to serve on the Norman County EDA Exploratory Committee, approved the purchase of new Air Conditioning unit for the Ada Liquor Store, approved a new computer for the utility clerk, approved Curb and Gutter work in the Cougar Addition, and approved natural gas hook up in the Rage Addition.
