Deadline Approaching for Youth Mentored Hunt on Rydell National Wildlife Refuge

By Mark Askelson (8/11/17)

Erskine, MN -- Time is running out for a chance to be a part of the Youth Mentored Deer Hunt at the Rydell National Wildlife Refuge near Erskine. The hunt will take place on October 28th and 29th, but the deadline to apply is this Friday, August 18th.  It’s a unique opportunity for young hunters as Rydell is the only National Wildlife Refuge in the state to participate in this youth mentored hunt. Refuge Manager Gregg Knutsen gives more details behind the hunt.

15 youth and their mentors will be selected to participate in the hunt, although in the past few years they’ve been a few spots shorts of the maximum. Deer are plentiful on the Rydell National Widlife Refuge and Knutsen says they moved the hunt back this year to hopefully add to a better harvest.
