Ada Chamber Begins Fundraising for Ada Area Events Center
By Mark Askelson (10/10/17)
Ada, MN -- The Ada Chamber of Commerce kicked off their fundraising campaign to save a former events center and bring it back to life. After Tubby’s Tavern close in the summer of 2016, the city of Ada has been without a year round events center, but the Chamber of Commerce has hopes to purchase the former Tubbys Tavern building and gift it to the city if they can get the support from the community. The cost to purchase and renovate the facility would be about $285,000, but Pat Pfund with the Ada Chamber of Commerce says that would make the building turn key for the city.
Without a year round events center, events such as weddings, conferences, and community gatherings have either been halted or moved to other nearby cities. Dawn Ganje of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, says this Events Center has been a staple of the community for many years.
The Ada-Borup Community Fund, a non-profit set up through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, will be the host organization for the project, which means all donations are tax-deductible. Naming rights are available for the building, ballroom, events center, and kitchen. Once the funds are raised and the building is renovated, the Ada Area Events Center will be turned over to the city, who will maintain and operate the facility.
