Hendrum, MN -- While the Winter Olympics just got underway in South Korea, Norman County West Elementary Students have also been busy getting involved in the Olympic spirit in their very own unique way. Over the past few weeks, 4th grade students have been participating in the Sphero Olympics. Norman County West Elementary Principal Mary Niklaus says the Sphero Olympics are a way for students to learn coding and be creative at the same time.

The different Sphero Olympic events that the students are participating in include the opening ceremonies, curling, and even ski jumping.

Staying with the Olympic theme throughout the entire Norman County West elementary, the opening ceremonies for the Reading Olympics kick off today as well. Nicklaus hope students will go for gold when it comes to reading at home over the next couple months.
