Fertile, MN -- The Fertile-Beltrami School is riding high this week after finding out that they received one of the most prestigious educational awards a district can get. The Fertile-Beltrami Elementary recently was selected as one of eight schools in the state of Minnesota to be selected as a National Blue Ribbon School. An important part of the U.S. Department of Education, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and non-public schools. In identifying several hundred outstanding schools annually, the program celebrates school excellence, turn around stories, and closing subgroup achievement gaps. Fertile-Beltrami Superintendent Brian Clarke gives credit to the staff and students for their hard work.
Superintendent Clarke says the district made sure to celebrate the award just like they would any athletic title or achievement.
One of the great aspects of being selected as a National Blue Ribbon school is that its an excellent marketing tool to showcase to families who are looking for a school that provides a quality education.
The only other area schools to receive the award were Norman County East Elementary in 2010 and Norman County West Elementary in 2006
