Fosston MN, -- NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will be in Fosston all this week. The very first workshops started at 4:30 and went until 6 p.m. on Monday afternoon. That workshop was called, "Assisting those first on the scene dealing with trauma and keep coming back to help." That workshop focused mostly on police officers, EMS, emergency room staff, first responders, health care workers and veterans. Following the first workshop at 6:30 was CALM Training. The Counseling on Access to Lethal Means workshop was intended for mental health professionals, physicians, crisis workers, law enforcement, EMT, and emergency room staff.
On Tuesday the 14th it will be a full packed day of events, including NAMI attending the farm bill meeting on Tuesday in McIntosh. Carrie Danielson who was a key contributor to getting NAMI to come to Fosston, tells us about what to expect from NAMI at the meeting.
