Climax-Shelly Voters Approve Classroom Expansion; Say No to New Gym

Climax, MN --The Climax-Shelly School District voters approved a 2.8 million dollar project on Tuesday night that will expand and renovate the school facility in Climax. The referendum passed with a 50 vote margin, but the 2nd option on the ballot to add a new gym failed by roughly 20 votes. Climax-Shelly Superintendent Bill Walters says the classroom addition option on the ballot seemed to be a priority for the district.
Now that the election is over, Superintendent Walters says the board will need to certify the votes and get everything lined up for construction this summer.
Even though the gym addition option on the referendum did not pass, Walters is pleased with the voter turn out and support from the community.
The Climax-Shelly School Board will canvass the votes at their regular board meeting on February 26th.
