Mentor, MN -- The Rydell National Wildlife Refuge is closed to visitors today through this weekend, but for a very special reason. For the 23rd straight year, the refuge will be the host site to the Accessible Deer Hunt, which offers people with disabilities a unique opportunity to hunt deer on the one of the most accessible refuges in the nation, according to Refuge Manager Gregg Knutsen.
Knutsen gives credit the Options Outdoors Group for coordinating this event and providing the volunteers to make it happen.
The Rydell National Wildlife Refuge will also be closed at the end of the month for their annual Youth Mentored Deer Hunt, which Knutsen says is full for the first time this year.
The Youth Mentored Deer Hunt will take place on October 27th and 28th.
